DHARMA, EARTH FLAT n´ ROUND

DHARMA, EARTH FLAT n´ ROUND

How did we get from a flat world to a round world? Thinking about how the world came to be brings bad karma, I´ve read. With this in mind I shall tread gently upon this important topic, I suggest you do the same.

Assumptions:
  • There was no creation, it has always been like it is
  • The substances are six: Jiva, Pudgala, Kaala, Loka, Dharma, Adharma
  • The substances can be divided into Jiva and Ajiva
English translation of the six substances:
    Jiva - soul
    Ajiva:
Pudgala - materia
Kaala - time
Loka - space
Dharma - medium of motion
Adharma - medium of rest

In this blog I shall explain how these two points of view of flat Earth and round Earth - also called Bhygol - can be held with little friction. The main component in this reconciliation of contrasting views is Dharma.

"Dharma alone must be served" preached Tirthankara Parsva.

Dharma and adharma would in scientific categorisation be the four Fundamental Forces of Nature; Gravitational force, Weak Nuclear force, Electromagnetic force and Strong Nuclear force. They have no soul.

That fire burns upward, wind blows horisontally and water flows rolling are the mysteries of Dharma.

Writing Dharma

This image shows the shape and form of Loka, translated as space.
In the middle we see Jambudvipa, the Rose apple tree island, or flat Earth. Loka when visualised like above is called Triloka, because there are three parts to it; Devloka at the top where the devas reside and Manoushyaloka in the middle where humans live. Dev means heavenly being and is one of the four Gati explained in the sermon by Trithankara Padmaprabha.

Dev-nagari is the script of Sanskrit and Prakrit. Dev meaning heavenly being, naga meaning snake, or dwellers in the lowest part of Loka. Devnagari translated, or broken into Roman alphabet, would imply the "heavenly snakes script". It may be seen in the shape of clouds, whose most lower parts can be seen as straight lines, with "snakes" hanging down from it.

Having messages from the sky or via a cloud is old. It makes sense that water in the clouds, which has Jiva, would pick up messages or sounds from the above and beyond, but with some distortion. Devnaga hanging from clouds would look something like below.

The concept of Dharma is a specifically higher concept than the normal. Coming back to the importance of Dharma for our subject, how is Dharma written in the devnagari script?
धर्म:
ध is dha
र्म is rma
Using the Loka as writing surface.
Now, this brings us to the crux of our topic. When fish swims through water, water is Dharma. When a boat floats on water, water is Adharma.

Earth rotates and moves through the Solar system, which then acts as Dharma. Earth rests in the the Solar system, which then acts as Adharma.

What is the Solar system? Mainly the Sun. The Sun has Jiva, fire. The Jiva of the sun serves Dharma, and upholds the orbits of the planets.

In and around the Solar system there is wind, varying in strength. Wind also has Jiva. It can also serve Dharma. Wind upholds the orbits and rotations of the planets too.

On Earth, and around it, water flows. Water also has Jiva and so must serve Dharma. In conclusion: Fire, Wind and Water make Earth orbit and rotate. This intricate harmony is due to the substance Dharma. We should not be surprised to see Dharma written over the Earth, see below.

Jambudvipa with Dharma of Fire, Wind and Water

Jambudvipa - the flat Earth or holy land - has continents, mountain ranges and rivers. Ajita, the second tirthankar, sermoned on this topic and maps have been made based upon it, as well as by meditations by monks. Below map shows Jambudvipa and it´s continents.

As we can see the southernmost continent is Bharata, which is also the name used for Greater India in ancient times. Bharata and the other continents, seven in total, resembles Earth, as shown below.

Even though this depiction main seem unintutive as first, it makes sense. The frictions for understanding it are mainly two:
  1. We are not used to see Earth from above, with Eurasia to the South and America to the North.
  2. Africa is the odd one in the depiction. Why isn´t there a land mass on the North of Earth? The reason why Africa is shown as Mahavideha is because Africa´s geography resembles Mahavideha´s in mainly one way. Both have two great main rivers, Sita/Sitodha and Kongo/Nile.
    • Sita is the name of the Mahavideha river that flows East. In Africa the river Kongo become it´s counterpart. Nilavat is the name of the mountain range North of Mahavideha. Nile is the name of the river that flows North in Africa, comparable to Sitodha. With this said, the Arctic sea may be seen as the Mahavideha rivers Sita and Sitodha, but then where is the land mass? The answer is Dharma. Specifally the Dharma of Fire, Wind and Water.
Just as fire burns upward... Dharma of the Stars made Earth move towards the North, and the Pole star.

Just as wind blows horisontally... Dharma of Wind made the Earth efficent towards North, see the two maps below.

Just as water flows rolling... Dharma of Ocean waters made the Earth roll towards West.

Indeed, the mysteries of Dharma make the two world views of flat n´ round Earth equal.
